Each year it seems more and more people are heading abroad for the Christmas holidays. What was once a time to go home and spend it with parents and relatives seems to have evolved in to the time where we jet off, why is this and should we all be doing it as well?

When asked why they head off at Christmas many people will say they are searching for the sun and it is not hard to understand why. With the winter months seemingly longer and harsher than ever, a bit of sun would be a welcome relief for most of us. It does seem strange that we all jet off during the summer when we have the most chance of getting some sun and actually sitting out in our gardens then stay at home when it is the coldest time. Perhaps it is all time for us to start taking out winter holidays and enjoying the bits of sun we get here.

Another reason many people give for jetting away over Christmas is family. Not because they don’t want to spend time with them, well okay some don’t, but for many couples it is to save the arguments about whose family to go to. With so many people moving around the country families can be quite wide spread so you need to pick which one to spend your Christmas with. If you jet away not only do you avoid that argument but you take away the risk of upsetting on set of parents!

With so many people taking their main holidays during the summer there are often amazing deals to be had over the winter periods. If you avoid the traditional winter destinations such as Lapland and head for more sunny climates you might just be surprised at what you can get for your money. Though be warned with the trend for winter holidays increasing these deals won’t be had forever!

Berlin is a fascinating city with so much to offer visitors that it is likely that you would have to make several trips there in order to take in all of its attractions. Nonetheless, for first time visitors to the city there are some things that they have to visit.

The Pergamon Museum

For those with an interest in art, history and architecture and also just for the curious. It houses artefacts from the Summerian, Greek and Islamic cultures in addition to three of the ancient world’s central architectural monuments in the Pergamon Alter of the Hellenistic Greeks – which dates back to the 2nd century BC; the Miletus Marketplace from Ancient Rome – which dates from the 2nd century AD; and the Ishtar Gate from 7th century BC, which dates from the Babylonian Empire.

The Reichstag Parliament

This represents a fascinating, though dark, period in the history of Berlin and Europe as a whole. It was the fire in the Reichstag building, which allowed Hitler the chance to seize power and the battle over the parliament building marked the end of the Reich. For visitors now, the ramped dome building provides some of the most spectacular views of Berlin to be found anywhere in the city.

The Philharmonie

This venue, also known as the Staatsoper, is one of the finest music venues anywhere in Europe and the place to go to hear a performance. Despite its reputation, tickets for major performances are not expensive – ensuring the cultural opportunity is accessible to all.

The Brucke Museum

The home of German Expressionism the artistic movement, which moved from the fine arts to influence areas such as cinema in the 1920s. Here you can see paintings by the artist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, whose street scenes captured the mood and feel of the Weimar Republic.

As you can see there is much to do in Berlin, with this merely the tip of the iceberg. In order to experience it all without worry, you should ensure that you have the necessary travel insurance. Details of these deals are available via company websites, such as http://endsleigh.co.uk

Travelling is exciting and it is this very sense of adventure that can make travellers – particularly inexperienced ones – forget to protect the safety of their belongings. However, while it is bad enough to lose possessions and money at any time – it is far worse to do so when you are a stranger in a foreign country. However there are some tips that travellers can remember to help them keep belongings safe.

The first and most crucial of these is to make sure you have comprehensive travel insurance. While this will not prevent the loss of belongings, the cover available from reputable insurance companies will protect you financially. You may be tempted to go for a cheap travel insurance option, but you must make sure it provides the necessary cover.

Ideally, in order to limit the chances of money being stolen, you should limit the amount you carry in a wallet or pocket to small amounts. The larger amounts of money can be kept in a more secure location on your person, such as a money belt. If you prefer to leave money in your hotel, make sure that it has a safe that the money can be stored in; it is never advisable to leave it in your room.

If you have costly equipment such as a camera, try to keep this out of obvious sight when you are not using it. Furthermore, if you are carrying bags with such equipment in them, avoid luggage types such as shoulder bags and purses or laptop bags, as these will alert thieves. They are also easily put down and forgotten about in the excitement of the moment.

Finally, when it comes to essential identification papers such as travel documents, passports and tickets, copies of these should be kept with you at all times. You should also look to email scanned copies to yourself so that they can be easily accessed via the internet if necessary.

For many potential travellers to the African continent, the choice of destinations which they can visit may not seem that large. When we see Africa on TV it can be a continent we associate with famine, civil war and political corruption. This is obviously not unfounded, but it should not colour your view of how accessible Africa is and what a wonderful alternative experience it can be. Rich in culture, scenery and wildlife, Africa is a unique experience.

The immediately obvious choices anyone looking to go to Africa are the more developed states. South Africa is a safe and popular tourist hot spot. The Victoria Falls, Cape Town and the Kruger national park are all once in a lifetime experiences.

North Africa is very popular with UK travellers due to its cheap prices and mainstream resorts. It has a warm climate all year round and has rich history – The Egyptian Pyramids, Carthage etc. Egypt and Morocco are ever popular. They are a taste of African life with all of the European type holiday resort comforts.
Central Africa starts to become a bit more volatile so destinations are less abundant. Kenya is a country that is perfect for those that enjoy wildlife. Many travel agents will direct you here for safari holidays.

The diversity of extraordinary creatures that roam the Kenyan plains is a sight to behold. To see some of nature’s mightiest creatures in their natural environment must be awe inspiring. The Savannahs, the Rift Valley and the vast desolate beauty of the plains are an awe inspiring sight.
Just beyond Kenya, on Tanzanian border, you can see the natural wonder of Mount Kilimanjaro. Nobody could fail to be moved by the awesome splendour of this mountain and you can partake in one of the many trails leading up the mountain.

Travelling in Africa is an unconventional but eye opening experience. It has the most natural diversity in the world and delivers an experience that no other continent on earth can match.

Most holidaymakers come home with tales of a have a highly satisfactory break, but it is not uncommon for an unlucky minority to return home completely dissatisfied with the package they have received. The question they then ask is what to do next and are they entitled to receive holiday complaint compensation. All UK tour providers have to abide by the Package Travel Regulations Act (1992).

If you find that your holiday is unsatisfactory whilst you are away, you should immediately contact your resort representative and highlight any problems you may have. In the best case scenario your issues may be resolved then and there. The rep should issue you a complaint form which should be filled in and signed by both parties. To strengthen your case, you should take photographs if possible and gather witnesses by swapping contact details with fellow holidaymakers. Follow this procedure even if your complaint is successfully dealt with; you could still be entitled to some holiday complaint compensation.
In some scenarios your complaint may not be resolved during your holiday. You should go directly to your travel agent who will in most cases be keen to avoid bad publicity so should be obliging. There is a strict set of Package Travel Regulations which the company should not violate. If your package holiday includes at least two of the following features – transport, accommodation, tourist services (trips etc) – you will be covered by the act. Remind them of this and ask for holiday complaint compensation.
If your travel agent is not forthcoming in refunding your money, write them a final letter before taking the matter to an independent arbitration scheme, The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) can be of help here. In some cases you could go directly to the small claims court but you should seek independent advice first.
The holidaymaker pays a hard earned amount of money for their trip so it should meet their standards, otherwise holiday complaint compensation can rightly be expected.

Even though there are a lot of interesting tourism destinations in the Southeast Asia region, Bali remains one of the most visited one nonetheless. The beautiful island features a lot of interesting attractions to suit every type of travelers. To help you plan your next trip to Bali, here are a few areas and attractions you should consider visiting.

The most popular area in Bali would have to be Kuta. It is a nice blend of traditional Balinese architecture, modern amenities, beautiful stretch of Kuta beach, and of course thrilling nightlife waiting to be enjoyed. If you love to surf, whether you are relatively new to surfing or rather an experienced surfer, Kuta is certainly the place to visit. As the sun sets, Kuta transforms itself into an array of clubs and bars offering different kinds of attractions.

Nusa Dua, on the other hand, offers a rather elegant and exclusive holiday experiences. It is very easy to find 5-star hotels and resorts in this particular part of Bali. You can also have a private resort prepared just for you, with all-inclusive amenities you will certainly enjoy. From Nusa Dua, you can visit various interesting tourism attractions including the fish market of Jimbaran and the magnificent cliffs around Uluwatu.

From any of these two locations, you can easily visit the rest of Bali. Spend a day visiting Bedugul and the infamous floating temple before continuing your journey to Lovina for a nice evening. Spend the night in Lovina and take a small boat trip in the morning to play with dolphins and do some snorkeling.

We are going to once again visit Russia, but instead of visiting Moscow we are going to visit St. Petersburg this time. There are numerous interesting tourism attractions to visit in St. Petersburg, and in this part we are going to discuss some of them briefly. If you are planning a trip to St. Petersburg, this article is perfect for you indeed.

We are going to start our discussion by looking into the Hermitage Museum. It is one of the most respected art galleries and museums in the world, featuring masterpieces by western as well as eastern artists. If you are a huge fan of art, you will be able to enjoy the work of old masters right here in this museum.

Next, we have the Catherine Palace. This place was used as Tsarskoe Selo or Summer Palace, featuring gorgeous sceneries and amazing work of architecture nonetheless. If you think you have seen the most luxurious palace in the world, wait till you visit the Catherine Palace. You will be taken away by the sheer luxury this palace has to offer, giving you some first-hand insights on how the Russian royalty once lived.

Don’t forget to also visit the Kizhi Island while you are in St. Petersburg. It is basically an open air museum that features impressive wooden structures made entirely without nails. Be sure to have your camera ready because there are tons of interesting spots as well as gorgeous sceneries to capture. You will have an amazing experience visiting the Kizhi Island for sure.

Romania may not be known as one of the most visited holiday destinations, but that doesn’t mean you cannot enjoy the best of this country on your next holiday. There are several interesting attractions Romania has to offer, and we are going to talk about them right here in this article. Let’s get started, shall we?
Some of Romania’s best tourism attractions are glorious castles and beautiful structures. Most of the castles date back to the 15th and 16th century, while the youngest one was built in early 19th century. If you want to witness the gorgeous remnants of new-renaissance, then the Peles Castle is the castle you need to visit. The Corvinesti Castle in Transylvania, on the other hand, features a rather gothic architecture and an equally beautiful surrounding sceneries for you to enjoy.

The cities across the country are also beautiful. Most of them are built during the medieval era, so you can expect the buildings to reflect architectural accents of the era. The city of Sighosoara, for example, is famous for being the home of Vlad the Impaler and is certainly among the many cities in Romania that you must visit.

Romania is also rich culturally. Holiday celebrations, folk crafts, traditional music, and of course local cuisines are all waiting to be enjoyed. If you are visiting Romania, be sure to explore the cultural richness as well; you will have a lot of interesting stories to bring home for sure when you explore these cultural interests thoroughly.

Aside from being famous for its gorgeous architecture and breathtaking surrounding scenes, Moscow also offers a lot of interesting tourism attractions. If you have several days to spare during your visit to Moscow, here are a few attractions you should really consider visiting.

First, we have the famous Red Square. You can still watch the changing of the guard at the Eternal Flame here in Red Square. You can also visit the Lenin’s Tomb as well as the gorgeous St. Basil’s Cathedral. Once you have explored the Red Square thoroughly, you can walk towards the Kremlin.

Moscow Kremlin is certainly a must-visit if you are in Moscow. Here, you will find two of Russia’s most historic monuments: the Tsar Bell and Tsar Cannon. While you are in the area, you should also take your time and visit the Amory Museum. You will be amazed by the collections hosted by this museum, including gold-gilt carriages and silver-threaded royal garments.

My personal favorite is of course the State Tretyakov Gallery, Russia’s best art museum. You can enjoy the country’s best work of art here at this museum, including works of Catherine the Great and Pushkin. You may need to spend several hours just to explore this museum thoroughly; it is certainly worth the time and effort and you will return with an experience you cannot forget.

With all these interesting tourism attractions to visit, there is no reason why you shouldn’t visit Moscow on your next vacation. You will have a marvelous time for sure.
